Who are the teachers? Summer Art Club is a collaboration with two Heidis!
1. Heidi Becker is a middle school art teacher with 20 years of experience. She relishes the opportunity to dive into art projects that cannot always be acheived in an a normal classroom setting. You'll know her by the paint under her fingernails and bubbly personality.
2. Heidi Peters is a commercial photographer and printmaker. She has three college-aged children and offered art clubs for middle schoolers during the pandemic as a way to safely socialize when a lot of sports and clubs were shut down. You'll recognize her by the pile of art supplies in her arms and patient smile.
In all seriousness, both Heidis want to share our love of artistic creation with your kids. We get it that there are some art projects that you just can't tackle at home - they are too big, too messy or too complicated.
Summer Art Club takes place in Heidi Peters's photo studio in La Grange, located at 18a N Catherine, which is a big open space with concrete floors and huge windows. If we make a mess, it's pretty easy to clean up. We welcome all levels and abilities. Art is not a competition. You can't be "best" at it. We do ask that all children who sign up really want to be here. Just as you would not sign your child up for soccer if they showed no interest in soccer, please use the same judgement for Art Club.
